Statement on Security Situation Dec 2011

Kurdistan Adventures wishes to make a statement regarding the withdrawal of U.S. Forces from Iraq.

U.S. Combat Forces have now completed their withdrawal from Iraq in accordance with the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) with the Government of Iraq.

The withdrawal involved U.S bases from areas in the south of Iraq not from the Kurdistan Region. Iraqi-Kurdistan has not seen a significant U.S Forces presence since the invasion of Iraq in 2003. Since this time, Kurdish security forces under the command of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) have been responsible for their own internal and border security. The KRG continues to highlight the fact there has not been a single security incident against any foreigners in the Kurdistan Region since the initial invasion in 2003.

It is for this reason that Kurdistan Adventures is able to operate safely so we in turn can share the wonderful region of Kurdistan with people from all around the world who have safely done so already.
